May 6 Convergence: Wrap-Up

The pre-rally convergence held on May 6 at the CAW Local 195 union hall was well attended, and there was standing room only by 9:00 AM. This meeting was organized by a coalition of area CAW locals who are supporting our community rally on May 27.

The event was an opportunity for those in attendance to learn more about what is planned for May 27, and for the CAW leadership to build some excitement and momentum within their membership as they committed their full support for the community rally.

Community activists and labour leaders address the packed house, and those in attendance were energetic in their support. Enthusiasm was high amoung those who built the foundation for this event in October 2006, as participation and support from the broader community (including the business sector) continues to grow.

Speakers included, but were not limited to; Marion Overholt (Community Activist), Gary Parent (President, Windsor & District Labour Council), Ken Lewenza (President, CAW Local 444), Mike Vince (CAW Local 200), Gerry Farnham (CAW Local 195) and Alex Keeney (CAW National Representative).

Please see the sound files below to hear some of what these people had to say.
